With the help of the book Web Campaigning by Kirsten Foot and Steven Schneider, we have identified several parameters in which to begin tracing the impact of the specific events above. Thematic or topical orientation, a temporal range, and a method of identifying constituent elements are listed as parameters by Foot. (p. 35, Foot). We begin by outlining web objects on the topic of concern. We began by archiving these objects; for example taking screen shots of relevant pages, translating passages, capturing video in order to reproduce the experience of the original users. We will then annotate these objects as a sort of multimedia annotated bibliography. As we all know, and this cartoon illustrates, that the Web is a seemingly endless territory without bound. However, for the sake of this research topic we must impose boundaries on it. As we begin to explore, we will limit our Web sphere to the specific topic Wanna-b-a-bride.blogspot.com and the Prince Hamzah through websites, linked pages, and news content. As we began tracing the events, we found numerous comments on articles and blog posts, so we decided to include comments, and the discussion that follows, in our sphere of analysis as well. To bound the Web sphere, Foot describes three dimensions of analysis: thematic anticipatability, actor predictability, and the stability of constituent Web object. We've faced difficulties deciding on parameter, but we've narrowed down a few ideas and develop a strategy to collect some data points in order to analyze and compare. These points include:
To calculate the reach, or impact we decided on working with the following parameters:
